Seems everyone has one of these pages so we'll go with the flow. These are links which we've found
useful or just like.
Other cyclist's websites: www.biketrip.org.
If you can't find what you're looking for here it probably hasn't been
done by bike! A long distance cyclist forum and travelogue - check it at your
own peril - you may not leave the computer for a few weeks!
Hospitality clubs
Always astounded that no one we ever meet has heard of these. We're only
mentioning the one's we are members of - suggest you try google for more -
there are quite a few out there. None of those mentioned have any fees.
Basically deal is if you are willing to have someone come and stay with you be
it a room, sofa bed or space to pitch the tent - you can ask to stay with the
other members.
Cyclist Specific
CAC - Cyclo-Accueil-Cyclo
A subsidiary of Cyclo Camping International (http://www.cci.asso.fr/) - a
French version of the CTC. Unlike the CTC you don't need to be member of the CCI to join the CAC. Gives links to other
cycle specific hospitality clubs too so don't just rely on our list! The
organisers of the CAC and CCI are simply fabulous - can't praise them highly
enough. Most of the CCI website is in French but bits are in English and German. The CAC part is in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese
Roger Gravels Warm Shower List.
http://www.rogergravel.com/wsl/vh_for_a.html He does a great job but spreadsheet format
would really be much more useful to the touring cyclist. (Roger - please don't
ban us - we do appreciate your efforts!) Look at the message boards when you
become a member - you'll find someone has kindly put a lot of Roger's
information into spreadsheet format. In French and English. Roger also lists a
few other hospitality clubs - some free some not.
CouchSurf http://www.couchsurfing.com/
We've only recently joined this one but it seems to provide with the opportunity to learn a bit about your fellow couchsurfers a bit more easily.
Ferrylines.com http://www.ferrylines.de/en - they state you can find every ferry in
Europe but as several of the ferry's link to other continents it's pretty global. Amazingly easy to use and has saved us hours of searching! In several
European languages.
The fantastic Care2 site not only provides free ecards for
just about every event - it also enables you to do your bit and
never even have to leave your keyboard! Completely free too. Take
your pick...
